Redefining Perfect

by Chelsey   Feb 11, 2013

My elbows rest on the railing as your body coats itself behind me.
Palm trees become silhouettes as the sun sets the sky ablaze.
She sputes flames of orange and red and the waves reflect her beauty.
I frame this picturesque moment in my memory as my heart
tumbles down the stairwell to my stomach. Which is whats really

taking my breath away.

Neither of us speak, but nature...she does. She is the true
love story here. The way the waves mate with the sand,
the arousal of the plants as the breeze blow between their
leaves. Your head rests on the side of mine, our arms aloft
one another, fingers laced over my tummy-

divine.

The aroma so indescribable, yet excreting such tropical scents.
The sound so majestic, as water crashes shore and seagulls caw.
I turn to face you while mist has salted our hair and seasoned our kiss.
This is all I ever wanted; this boardwalk, this sunset, your touch.

You and I, right now,
are redefining perfect.

The poetess has described Mother Nature and love all in one breathtaking write. The opening stanza had me hooked and I could picture everything, the colors, the trees, the water, the couple and I could hear the sounds of the waves crashing and the cawing of the gulls and I could smell the salt in the air and coconut... so many memories this write brought back for me having lived in Florida for most of my life... I could tell the writer felt and put so much passion into creating this masterpiece... (10)

You know, I tried to write you a decent comment more than once but I always find no words!! I read this piece to my sister, and to my friends and to myself more than once. There is something about it that made me feel alive, like I actually believed in love.

This poem itself had redefined perfect for me!
