Customer is King

Labels are for cans, not people,
so please stop turning me
................this way
............................and
................................that way
inspecting my patience's expiration date
[eighteen years after the birth of mockery]
for you couldn't even read my ingredients
with brandnew glasses, these mirrored manners
are too pretentious ...
you're only grocery shopping, Sir,
or Sire,
(whatever suits your suit)
I won't kiss your hand and worship
the coins you threw my way -
these sardines would gladly find shelter
inside my mouth as well,
for I'm no beggar, my teeth are cleaner
than your tongue could ever be,
even though permanent dirt must've
stuck to my hands, from hard work
and allochthonous genes.
'Cause if you think that the colour of your skin
equals equity, then equality
must be a dirty joke
shared between magazine-mounted knees
at public lavatories -
nose too high in the air but still smelling
the piling turd, never realising
that the bulldog's finally
released from your butt.
So go ahead and turn me around.
Take a look at my face,
upside down,
inside out.
I will lay still for you. Dissect me.
Too used to the disposable dirt
of your hands anyway.
Where else did you think
my skin obtained its tan?
I never needed sunscreen
to make me feel confident.
