Something to ponder

by Chelsey   Feb 24, 2013

An ebony pond resides above our head, housing diamond
resembling matter that float like Lilly pads. I wish to dip
my toes in it, but gravitys refusal leaves me stuck on this
park bench, staring at the wonders of what could be up there-
Life? Death? Anything?

Perhaps we don't orbit space, maybe the galaxy rotates around
us. Giving us something to ponder as life passes us by too
quickly. Gifting us with stars that swim in the shallow end, close
enough for us to see. Tantalizing our wishes; we'll never receive them.

I'd say the universe is just a mere reminder. A sticky note that
is permanently stuck on a blackboard that surrounds our nightly
dreams. Telling us there is such a thing as impossible. Yet, there
is a way to find out how to reach it. How to conquer it.

I never liked to swim in darkness, but something about the sky
tonight makes me want to bathe myself into depths of the unreal.

Very creative piece Chels. It holds both a mixed tone of hope and then hopelessness and it is like you are trapped between the two. Perhaps it is hope and with this cloud above you it shadows the hope from being real.

I love the deep thinking process that flows through out like you started with one thought and then continued breaking apart your own mind and own thoughts to make this poem. I like the use of the stars and glaxay in a life poem rather in a love poem or nature. I found them to be greatly used and added a unique image to what you see when you look above and this cloud that follows you. Perhaps you see a totally different sky to what those around you do.

Loved this and how it took me away to many different thoughts after each stanza. Well done

I felt like I was lost in space, among-st the stars... just thinking about life... this poem has such a strong message, and yet it has a peaceful and softness to it as well... I truly admire this piece, and you my dear have a way of making me think... and think... and think... !!
