Once

by Lance Hardy   Feb 27, 2013

Each passing look...each breath we take...
you could feel the heartbeat between us thundering like a storm.
The air so electric...the sparks glancing off everywhere settling on little focus fires...burning strong and hard.
My mouth feels dry...so dry.
The desert heat would feel refreshing in this temperature that's exploding within me.
I wait to combust...I hope to!
For I would wish no other moment beyond this to occur...this is where I want to die.
Everything so bright...alight...golden.
Please God, forgive me...please God, let me be.
This is the best gift you've ever given me...and it's being squandered.
In just a moment...it's gone.
My eyes open to an empty world.
