Until I Learned To Forgive

by Kips2.0   Feb 28, 2013

Let's push these aside and let's get going,
Our differences is pulling us behind
And there are still miles ahead to go;
I never truly learned to love you
Until I learned to forgive.

Apologizing to you made me weak,
But now I do get an inner strength
To face another day and live so free;
Until I learned to forgive you
I never truly learned to love.

Remember how it used to be, then--
I was intolerant about everything,
But now I know much better, then--
I never truly learned to love you,
Until I learned to forgive.

Now I am swallowing up my pride
So please come back to me,
If you have to know, I really need you;
I never truly learned to love you,
Until I learned to forgive.

Please do not stay angry with me,
No one can live on that for so long,
It is poisonous and unhealthy to do so;
Until I learned to forgive you,
I never truly learned to love.

We choose to remain in a relationship,
I have made my choice, I chose you,
Will you choose me back? I hope you do.
I never truly learned to love you
Until I learned to forgive.

To forgive is another choice we make,
I have chosen to let go of the past
So we could move forward, and--
Until I learned to forgive you,
I never truly learned to love.

What says you, that you forgive,
And together we can make this work?
Our future has never been so bright,
I never truly learned to love you
Until I learned to forgive.

There may still be some things to settle
But we cannot accomplish much in hatred,
To love is to forgive, to forgive is to love;
Until I learned to forgive you,
I never truly learned to love.

Let's push these aside and let's get going,
Our differences is pulling us behind
And there are still miles ahead to go;
I never truly learned to love you
Until I learned to forgive.

    What a sad story Kips. Beautifully written.
    I enjoyed reading this, like reading a story.
    Hope it worked out well...
