Farewell Winter [String Senryu]

by Khalid M Darwish   Mar 11, 2013

Winter submits its
seasonal inventory
to the newborn spring

They'll have a promise
to meet under the green tree
but she cannot come

Many excuses
are less convincing than one
when she is absent

For so many years
that tree saved their memories
which tell their stories

That tree secretes glue
resembling tears of the past
with its black picture

Again a new page
will line their new life throughout
blossoming green leaves

This is a great poem, I really like how you use nature to describe love's ups and down. The places go and the memories we make are what gives the word love it's meaning.
