The Evil Within

by Titus   Mar 20, 2013

Through tired eyes
We see what we want,
And to no end
We ignore the font.

We seek the truth,
Yet lies we all see.
Only your mind
Can set you free.

The Devil is here,
You can not hide.
A trip to Hell
Is one free ride.

Do nothing, you'll see,
And there you will go.
As Scrooge did see,
It's covered in snow.

No fire, No brimstone,
Just ash and hail.
No where to see,
Nothing beyond the Pale.

I turn you away,
Like I couldn't give a care.
The darkness inside,
Just rips and tears,

I'm no longer the angel,
Just evil embodied.
You look at me,
And you see it's honeyed.

Sweet to the lips,
Sour in the gut.
Nothing is enticing,
You're in a rut.

Now I'm in Hell,
Blackness covers the skin.
Numbness all over,
I have lost to sin.

    Through tired eyes
    We see what we want,
    And to no end
    We ignore the font.

^^A good opening. We seem to close our eyes to the reality that is taking place because we give up, we ignore.

    We seek the truth,
    Yet lies we all see.
    Only your mind
    Can set you free.

^^This is true. We all search for the truth yet in front of it all are only lies. If you are strong in mind then you will surly make sure truth is set free.

    No fire, No brimstone,
    Just ash and hail.
    No where to see,
    Nothing beyond the Pale.

^^This stanza brought an image of a grave yard. At the end all turns to ashes and nothing is colorful for the dead just like the ugly things that is happening around this world.

Evil does exists in all of us and depends on our strength, whether we can control it and due to greed and every thing else we give in to it.

From start to finish this write had a smooth read with a good rhyme scheme..nicely penned!
