Easter Turned Red

by Jack Nightengale   Apr 1, 2013

Today marks the beginning of Spring,
Filled with love, and joy as well as other things.
The day when one should enjoy his or her life,
Yet I don't because I'm still down under this knife.

Yet there is some joy or maybe I'm just dumb,
But, my body has grown used to the pain, I'm completely numb.
From head to toe as I lay in this bed,
Watching these sheet slowly turning red.

The bunny comes to bring dyed eggs and candy,
This just great, could my life be anymore dandy?
Letting go of life feeling that soon I'll be dead,
It had to be today of all days when Easter turned red.
