Her Dance Partner

by Maple Tree   Apr 8, 2013

He held her hand on a day
that most would consider
ordinary, he knew all she
needed was a friend, smile.

So they danced in spirals
of laughter, to a song
that filled the room
with hope, a comforting
waltz, like no other waltz
before then....

He gave her a few moments,
to giggle again under a tree
of conversation, puff of a cigarette
and soothing moments two friends
could share in silent affection.

She adored his gentlemanly ways,
tie and slacks, sweater to groom
his comforting smile, a lady on his
arm, she glided like a swan in
a sunshine pond of lily pads.

Two friends were born on a day
some would consider ordinary,
but to them, they birthed a friendship
that is priceless beyond gold.

He was her dance partner,
she hugs his smile against
her cheek, within a wooden
flower frame, a friend she
needed upon the last year
of her beautiful life.

For Joe and Momma P- Their friendship
is priceless~

You captured their friendship flawlessly. I feel like I'm sitting right there, watching them twirl and laugh, holding each other cheek to cheek.

    Precious. <3

We all know how precious friends are, and in later life, those friends become our comfort...

you penned a lovely piece here, the touch if sadness evident, but the beauty strong and powerful
