Echo

by Daylight Lucidity   Apr 8, 2013

I feel the emptiness in which your presence had simmered
Where we displayed for all to witness jealously
Our love that seemed like it could withstand the coldest of winters
Now a mere echo wracking my soul's already tarnished capability
Of accompanying you to a world, a fantasy, where we flourish
As if beauty as a whole could be a flower
Where dreams of our future lie dormant
Along with the hopes of children bearing those names of ours.
Alas, I wish this echo would dissipate and leave the memories lacking the haunting murmur of your voice
Yet that wish was set ablaze the day I told you to stay away from me
The universe, having a dark sense of humor, reminds me of this horrid choice
Letting the tears cascade like razor blades upon my chalky white cheek
For I fell ill after relinquishing your hold
Dying of a broken heart, taking its toll on me for all eternity
And I know, as if I was given psychic powers, that as I lie in my tomb, I will lie cold
And still the tears will burn as they stream.
This echo will be the death of me for I quail in fear at every whisper,
At every murmur in the breeze that even remotely sounds like you
And as I tell myself that I will never miss her
I am still wracked with violent tremors at the very sight of you.
This echo, god this echo, kills me with every reverberating sound.
