Beast Without the Beauty

by Daylight Lucidity   Apr 18, 2013

Whom shall seek the beast without the beauty?
I dance and I sing the songs of my heart
Though, to you, they are merely stumbling and ear piercing screams
Waiting for love that I can rip apart.
A masquerade is where I parade around
Allowing all to see me without my elegant and strategically crafted mask
They stare dumbfounded, neither a breeze nor a sound
As the beast is unleashed; are they afraid of me or my past?
My heart the ice sculpture upon the grand mahogany table
That sits on the side of this dashing ball,
And see my rose that is wilting within a jar; I am nothing you can handle
As I tip my hat at every man and bow for each woman, while they question my all.
My nails pointed and filed to sharpened points
That will dig in and scratch your back if we find the time to pleasure
But only if they want the beast without the beauty; I continuously disappoint
While I turn my cheek to all of life's treasures
For I am not worthy of such satisfying things
I loved once, the beauty overpowered the beast within
She lays forever asleep upon her bed, awaiting her true love that shall never come nor bring
Her the promise of happiness again; her true love, the sweetest, most rewarding sin.
They cower in fear in all the shadow infested corners
As I waltz lonesome on the floor that was waxed with my tears
My reflection horrifying and heartbreaking as I mourn
The beauty I laid down to rest while I walked away from all the good at which I peer.
Now, whom shall seek the beast without the beauty?
I promise to tear you apart,
I promise to break your heart,
I promise to be your every regret,
I promise to be your terrifying lover.
Now, do you want to waltz,
Or will you run with them all?
Shall you seek the beast without the beauty?

I love this poem, so much spirit, so much power, so much emotion, outstanding job, the imagery is beyond fantastic. I can see the panic, pain, and sorrow of the person in the poem, this is a very emotional piece, truly perfect!!!
