When the Rooster Crows

by Maple Tree   Apr 20, 2013

Dawn rising

invasion of

dreams,

drowzy

slumber

levitates

toes to carpet,

awakening

wheatfields,

teasing a

farm girls soul

to rise....

when the rooster crows.

This is darling. The form is pretty neat in itself. It almost gives me a waking up feeling.

I love the words "drowsy slumber levitates toes to carpet." It just gives me this picture of a girl lying on her right side with a window on that right wall, the sun slightly peeking over the hills, and she moves her legs around to the edge of the bed, and steps down, in a sleepy daze. This poem is so simple, but it evokes such feeling, and vivid images. I really like this one. Favorited.

    Great write, Andrea. :)
