Born with Cherokee blood running through my veins
The percentage my not be much but it still remains
My Mother was so proud to be part Cherokee
She instilled the same in me
She taught Indian poem's from long ago
She shared many things so that I might know
She taught me to hear when my ancestors call to me
Some call it a sixth sense that I have, I call it heredity
For when the wind is blowing so wild and strong
I feel the deepest desire to sing its song
There are times when I take a nature walk
The birds, the trees and I can almost talk
When I see the wild animals run free
It makes my heart fully believe
I believe my soul is Cherokee through and through
I believe it's the Indian in me, that makes me what I do
This Indian blood running through my beating heart
It's what's made me who I am right from the start
So this is who I was born to be
Just a girl who's part Cherokee
