Stopping Reality

by Rebecca   May 14, 2013

She was a skinny little fool
Believed anything she would hear
Didn't believe in hurt or fear.
Up until grade eight
She was only amazing
Had a great little secret she would never tell
A story hidden beneath sealed lips
And crossed hearts.
In grade nine
She realized that life hurts
She discovered how to love and to lie are the same thing
She didn't know she had an army of friends
Standing behind her
Supporting her through weary steps.
Her mamma held her chin
And whisper to her
It'll be okay
And she believed it too
For a moment,
She believed.
But just like the rest
It was a lie
Masked with sweet words and strong hugs
Sucidal thoughts,
Overdose drugs
She saw her future
And it hurt her
She tried to hide from everything that hurt her
But it followed her
Like scary monsters
That haunted her childhood
Or bed bugs under her skin
They crept through her everything
She tried to hide
Get away
But even super hero strength
Couldn't find a way to stop her reality.
