A Relic Of Senses

by Meme   Jun 12, 2013

All there was was
the rain pouring and
me staring at the
droplets falling down
the window pane.

Thats when I saw the
sky showering strings
of broken moonlight
against the pavement,
drawing a fuzzy picture
that almost resembled..

..You!

But who did my heart
think you were?! You
sounded like a thunderous
lull and smelled like coffee
scented rain; something
familiar to my senses.

Still, my hands never
recalled the memory
of your touch nor did
my lips remember the
taste of your name.

But I could have
sworn that I saw
seattle skyline
reflecting in your
eyes that night,
though you weren't
here and I wasn't there.

--

It's raining tonight,
and I am wondering
where to this time..?

Awww... this was such a great poem. I love your similes and metaphors... I am always affected by your poetry.

    This was my favorite part:

    "You
    sounded like a thunderous
    lull and smelled like coffee
    scented rain; something
    familiar to my senses."

I love the smell of coffee and loved the idea of coffee scented rain!

    Beautiful poem!

    Fock! Meme..what the..

Oh my my...I love getting lost in love poems..I haven't written one, or read one in a while...

This gave me goosebumps and made me tear up...Because I do exactly this!!! In fact I was trying to write today starting with "Looking out of my window.." and got nowhere...

Love is sooo tricky. It leaves us in daydreams often and I think your metaphors here are amazing.....You described that journey of thinking of someone so well, picture a place..I do that so much...a lot of my love poems are actually just that...daydreams I'd picture happening, but never did...Places where I am with someone, but never been.

    I love this, adore you!

    Meme,
this was one of those poems, it stirred a lot of thoughts and memories. The rain, it makes thing seem a lot clearer while clouding clarity at the same time. You remember things but things get hazy in the puddles.

I know I spend a lot of time mulling things over, looking out the window at the rain on the pavement, watching it trickle down the windows, so I know how easy it is, to think you see things that you don't or remember things differently to how they were.

You really spoke a lot of sense in this piece, and I felt that it was well penned, the flow was smooth, maybe a little too repetitive in places but it did help get the message across.

The love we have for someone can change one minute to the next when we don't see things clearly...this piece really was powerful.

    Really good job :)
