My Conversation with god

by TheDarkCloudBehindthePoet   Jun 25, 2013

At night I can only talk to him, alone in my dreams,
awakening to blue skies and white clouds,
walking into his chambers, the scent of oak wood rushing to my nose,
then I see him, high and mighty behind his walnut desk, fiercely writing in his notebook as if to give the land of man a few new commandments,

"Pull up a chair" he says, still writing in his book,
"I suppose you have a few questions for me son", still writing,
Before I could bombard him with questions of the flesh, I take a few moments to look at his chamber,
hundreds of diplomas hanging behind his desk, mixed with pictures of Abraham, Peter, and Paul,

Gathering my thoughts I take a deep breath and look him in the face,
I ask him, "Why do you let bad things happen?" my voice crackling with every word,
God answers and says, "Evil exist everywhere, and it is up to mankind to determine if they will be righteous and follow my law or watch the world burn",
Shocked at his answer I persevere, asking another question,

"Many priests and preachers misinterpret your words and teach your followers wrong ways of living. From homosexuals go to hell to non-believers going to hell also. Do you not see those teaching are wrong? Why not change that? Talk to them in their dreams, letting them know that they got it all wrong",

Just for a moment, god stops writing and raises his bald head,
Staring a hole through my heart, as if he was trying to set it on fire if he blinked,
He says, "My word is law and whoever chooses not to follow it shall be judged",
I quickly rebuttal, "Just like you did Saul?"

He looks at me with disgust on his face as if asking me to continue,
"Your book teaches people how to live righteous and good. Thou shalt not kill or steal, but look at what you've done. You cursed Saul for not killing every man, woman, child, and animal when you he defeated the Amalekites. You destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah since no one believed in you, and flooded the Earth killing everyone but two of every animal and Noah's family and you still let murders and child molesters in your gates if they repent. Aren't you supposed to be a god who forgives? Even if people don't believe in you? That's what makes us human and you a god right? The ability for forgiveness. You are a god of double standards and murder. Do you have anything to say?

"No, that's not right", he says with a confused look on his face,
"I am god and what I say goes. It's too late trying to change people's minds about me anyway", he says with a grin,
If there is one thing I learned from this conversation with god it'sthis,
You can't teach god anything,
