A Once Beautiful Gem

by No1ButMe   Sep 24, 2013

I walk along the shoreline
I've been here many times
Kicking up the rocks
Taking in the scenery
I start to think about life
My head sinks to the ground
The water washing upon my feet
A little pebble moves
Back and forth,
But going nowhere
I pick it up and examine it
It's been tarnished by the water
Chipped by the surrounding stones
Faded by the extensive years
It has been left behind,
Forgotten by everyone
Simply overlooked
Just to sit in the wading waters
To go nowhere in its life
This once beautiful gem
Now jaded, forgotten, alone
It has been cracked, broken
Not good enough for anyone
Not moved because of its imperfections
Judged like the rest of us
What wrath the world has
Did it deserve this?
Did it ask for this?
Why has no one noticed?
Has no one cared?
Of course no one cared,
They just sat by and watched
They watched the world
Destroy this beautiful jewel,
Then the first tear falls...
