I could die tonight

by Rhi   Jan 1, 2014

I could die tonight,
On the birth of the year,
No one would know,
Not till tomorrow.

What a gift to give,
A still, silent corpse,
The remains of me,
Left just for you.

How long will it take,
Before I start to stink,
Before I decompose,
How long till I'm gone.

How long will it take,
Till no memories remain,
I'll be gone for good,
A name with no face.

A gravestone,maybe,
A plaque on a bench,
Nothing more than,
A forgotten life.

So many have gone before,
So many will follow,
What would my impact be,
If I died this night?
