Love Unkind

It's another valentine,
and I'm sitting
in a worn down apartment
with boarded up windows
and burn marks
all over that
thin mattress
on the floor;

trying to fend off
the demons that
whisper relapse
in the ears
of the weak--

trying to overcome
the urges to give in
to this love
that is bittersweetly
unkind

But I'm losing

You are winning when you continue to write like this,
I have previously met the demons in stanza 2...

Anyways, another powerful write from you.
oozing emotion with a nice slice of darkness.
    well done.

Thank you so much for taking your time to both read and comment, and thank you for your wonderful feedback!

I didn't quite understand what you meant with 'winning' at first though, but after a few minutes, I considered that it could have been that I got nominated for the weekly contest again, and that's pretty much when I first actually even noticed that I was! Haha!
