A Paedophile's Paintbrush

by Baby Rainbow   Mar 16, 2014

Everlasting scars remain engraved
upon my canvas heart;
painted colourless with
poisonous ink from his
tarnished brush.

His masterpiece now hangs
squint on the wall, in a
taunting empty room,
filled with his twisted pride.

For long ago he stole
something young and innocent,
painted it with shame and guilt,
and left it hanging fearfully
inside his hollow shadow.

O my it's quite... I don't know it's dark and yet so beautiful in the details and in the way the pathos of the poem just shouts at the soul I quite wanted to hug the person that had this happened to them I guess my maternal instincts were awakened with this piece and I got to say you made the imagery and flow seem so natural yet it made me pray my daughters never have to go through this! Great job 5/5

Well, the title caught my eye and I immediately felt a little uncertain because this is a subject that really speaks to my heart, as I am sure it does many.
You captured the right amount of darkness while still allowing the piece to be poetic. You didn't go overboard but you still touched my heart.

The imagery was powerful, yet not overpowering and the wording, simple yet effective.

    OMG Saffie!!
This poem just took me back to a oiece I wrote long ago. The painter and the paint metaphors are used incredibly in this piece. Your ooems are always relatable, and I always find myself feeling as if I had penned the piece myself, we are so alike in the way we write.

    LOVED IT!

And today is the day I wore makeup...this got to me.
I love how it is phrased so perfectly and it got me into tears.
The stanzas go so well together and it has amazing imagery.
This took my breath away and left me speechless.
I also love how I can relate to this because I know how it feels.
    So 5/5 from me.
Thanks for writing this, I quite enjoyed reading it.
