Sister's of Lake Miola (French Sonnet)

by Maple Tree   Apr 13, 2014

Laughter rang out, upon a misty, midnight moon
white falcon racing, upon pavement etched in gold
panthers of the eighties, stalking the lake of old
April, Christine and I, singing a George Strait tune.
Barefoot ladies, no place to go in a small town
wind blown hair with candy coated daydreams, whisper
toes within dirt, campfire's burning, heels blister
eyes shine colors of friendship "hazel, blue and brown".
square dancing, concerts, parties until early dawn
faded jeans and hairspray, pizza, music and boys
young teenage diva's, full of life, love, and sweet joys
friendship graced the skies on a summer, shawnee lawn.

I remember the ladies of my childhood,
loving them forever and always, life was good.

This poem is very beautiful because it seems to based on your life :). And that gives a reader more of a connection and leaves you feeling like you are apart of it. There is so much you can say here as well. First of all the imagery gives you a picture and you can see thescene enfold. It seems like you are rremembering a great time in which you had with friends in your teenage years. I love this because it gives a tone of bliss abd it's very personal to you! Anyway from the poem itself I am so amazed that the flow is so smooth. Each line connects well and tthat's what makes a poem perfect. With all the restrictions it's veryddifficult. The rhyming is fantastic and not over played and you did well to keep it with the story. Overall you did a beautiful job! Edit: Also I loved the title because it shows the location of the poem and all the poem talks about hanging out. The location is key here because without it, the poem wouldn't make sense!
