If only you knew

by Nikki   Jun 13, 2014

You lay entangled in another women's arms
the clock ticks away
seconds, minutes, hours days
time that you have spent away
Away from me, your wife
away from him, your son

you chose her to be more important
her sins, her drugs,
the reckless life you choose to live

Care free, able to do what you want
when you want
you see that's not the life for me
Sleepless nights, dirty clothes,
changing diapers, getting rid of his colds
that's the life i choose to live

I only wish you knew how lucky you were
that little boy could of been your world
he could of looked up to you
been your little man

I'm the one who gets to hold our baby tight
I get to tuck him into bed
to lay him down to sleep every night

I'm there for every bruise
every tear
every smile
every first

I wish you only knew how lucky you could of been

You see, I know
because that little boy means the world to me.
