Standing in the rain

by Skyler   Nov 22, 2014

In summer time it came so easy
But now we're standing in the rain
Don't just mouth the words to please me
I can see the corners strain

The trouble's stirring in your eyes
A gaze belies your weary claim
Reflecting storm clouds in the skies
But you won't speak the trouble's name

The perfect storm won't drive me back
Don't hide away your worried mind
When storm clouds turn from grey to black
The sun's a little hard to find

But even as we chill our bones
In pouring rain and icy winds
The birds will sing in gentle tones
For you and I, as spring begins

The seasons of our love repeat
And I can see your heavy soul
When weariness and sunshine meet
The rain will seem a smaller toll

Measure out your part and mine
And carry on with half the pain
I swear to you the sun will shine
I swear it's just a little rain
