I'll wear it like when naked

by Everlasting   Dec 27, 2014

We wander through the night
wearing nothing but our pride.
The stars shine above our heads
and the moon becomes fully proud.
The crickets chirp and the frogs
croak in favor of our walks.

As you can see,
We are not ashamed of our skins,
We are not ashamed of who we are.

You used to think
our clothes were made of hatred.
So we took them off. Now we walk naked.
But if my nakedness perturbs your being
Cover me with a mantle of peace
Cover me with a mantle threaded
by your own hands.

And if you do,
I will wear it with the same
or with a lot more pride
with which I walked
when naked.

This is such a creative little poem! I love how you have used the mantle piece, as mantle peace too! Very nicely done.

I love the innocence of this poem and how you strip back to the simple pride of being oneself and having what we have, and being who we are.

    Nice write Luce.
