Death's Sobriety

by Glenn G   Jun 7, 2015

Between two markers there is a grave
Most people think it's of an old woman who died
The stone says here lies Mary Beth
She was my friend, my lover, my wife

I fell asleep holding her tight
I never thought it would be our last night
Now every day I awaken without hearing her voice
God had made his decision, his choice

Each morning I cry a great many tears
I've never counted but I'm sure there's one for each year
With the loss of love and divorce in today's society
You can't imagine my pain and suffering from death's sobriety
