Tear drops of Pain (Sestina)

Tear drops of Pain

Teardrops accrued in my eyes
Slowly they rolled down my soft cheeks
Was it the vein of withered love,
that made the teardrops so intense?
With painful visions of the past
Each tear commenced its own journey

Each continued its dire journey
From swollen and sunken red eyes,
Unwanted squirm and haunting past
Rolled as heavy tears on my balmy cheeks,
The tears sodden my lips intense
Tasting sourness of forlorn love.

The descending tears mull over the lost love,
A love that relics as scars of life’s journey,
A blemish that remains in my heart so intense,
Makes warm tears shed from my pensive eyes.
Nimbly, a kind hand nearly touched my cheeks,
Making goose bumps like in the past.

He, my only love, came from my past,
Lifted my chin with heartfelt love,
Swathed his hands around my cheeks,
Reminding me the whole life’s journey.
He looked straight into my lost eyes,
Taking all my senses with the same intense.

Please don’t remind the love which was intense,
Don’t want another sham dream of the past.
A mirage that looks nice with closed eyes
For moments it hides the pain of love.
Later, memories of that final journey
Returns with stains of crick on cheeks

Dimples did fade away, from my cheeks
To rise above reality, I try so intense
I need to stop this dreamlike journey
I really want to wipe tears of past
Can I again feel the vigor of love?
Why my nights pass with flooded eyes?

Let me kiss on your cheeks, before we impede this journey
Forced we are, to forget this intense and enigmatic love
And to wipe this past like the heavy tears from my eyes.

Sestina The sestina is a strict ordered form of poetry, dating back to twelfth century French troubadours. It consists of six six-line (sestets) stanzas followed by a three-line envoy. Rather than use a rhyme scheme, the six ending words of the first stanza are repeated as the ending words of the other five stanzas in a set pattern. The envoy uses two of the ending words per line, again in a set pattern.
First stanza, ..1 ..2 ..3 ..4 ..5 ..6
Second stanza, ..6 ..1 ..5 .. 2 ..4 ..3
Third stanza, ..3 ..6 ..4 ..1 ..2 ..5
Fourth stanza, ..5 ..3 ..2 ..6 ..1 ..4
Fifth stanza, ..4 ..5 ..1 ..3 ..6 ..2
Sixth stanza, ..2 ..4 ..6 ..5 ..3 ..1
Concluding tercet: middle of first line ..2, end of first line ..5 middle of second line ..4, end of second line..3 middle if third line ..6, end of third line ..1
