To Have and to Hold

by VP Cruz   Aug 28, 2015

To make you laugh is all too simple
Know your weaknesses, exact spots to tickle
In mornings awaken with breakfast in bed
Served with flowers, roses of red

How you love toast without the edges
Come to your aid, your unreachable itches
On the tire swing, your screams of laughter
Soften your fall as you lunge thereafter

The most passionate kiss, there on the grass
Eyes closed, wishing it would last
The kind that surpasses all that you've treasured
My opinion even, the Guinness book of records

Go for take-out, when you burn dinner
Loving care kisses, on your mildly burned finger
Take to consider anything that arises
I most enjoy, my birthday surprises

When late for work, how I hurried
When late from work, how you worried
Run to me as I walk through the door
Jump in eager, we'd fall to the floor

Make funny noises with my mouth to your tummy
Laugh at my jokes, 'cause they're not even funny
It is with you I want to grow old
Forever my darling, to have and to hold
