I Just Ran

by VP Cruz   Sep 4, 2015

Don't want to explain, our children, why they lack
I tire of pulling the knives off their back
I ran to avoid this political election
Unimpressed by the season's selections

Their convincing words, seeking appointment
Only thereafter, discover disappointment
I ran from a government, thought understood
Reveal the truth, for that you'll get screwed

Exists a society, where humanity has faded
The city, it wreaks, of volatile hatred
The constant explosion, of homeless horror
They seem to pop up, in every corner

In scads, appear, more than most places
Endlessly joined, bearing young faces
I ran from a system, supposed to protect
Instead befuddled, what to expect

In masses they gather, resulting in violence
In tears I ran, seek solitude and silence
I ran from a place, having no more patience
The numerous politicians, guilty of malfeasance

I ran from where, thought happens the most
Discovering prevalent from coast to coast
Finding each place no different from last
Morbid epidemic, upon the land is cast

Intentions revealed, none but forlorn
Indicative of Satan, only minus the horns
Have we all lost sight of our social purpose?
Or has hell finally come upon the surface?

I ran because the man entrusted was a crook
He still judges from the cover of the book
I ran from the demands of religious recognition
Eluding to violence for their ideal's uncondition

This life no more, want to be a part
Therefore I ran for the sake of my heart
I've no more tears, as fast as I can
Without looking back, I just ran...
