Brooke Shields

by Michael D Nalley   Oct 30, 2015

You remained a virgin until you were Twenty-two
when you were much younger seems the producers used you
to disseminate images of virginal seduction,
but erotic imaging nor the script was your production.
You paid your respects to a member of the Jackson Five
who was a close friend, who was accused when he was alive.
The rights to "Pretty Baby "and Blue Lagoon is Hollywood's
where a celebrities innocence is bought and sold like goods

Another eye opening piece. Very thought provoking read. You speak of how Hollywood takes advantage of the age and innocence of child actress and actors also.....some of the first were the little Rascals and Shirley Temple. Who worked very long hours with very little pay. They started very very young. To have your parents using you also is the worst. Thank you for bring this subject to light.
    Take care Cindy

Your poem reflects the stark reality, but sadly its just the tip of the iceberg for this "human behavior" goes beyond the corporate world! Belittling, humiliation, exploitation are just the very few thing I named here that we do to each other in the name of profit, righteousness, ignorance! It is always joy to read you because your words have the tendency to open the reader's eyes!!
    Thx Michael

    Michael,
I agree with the sentiment here entirely - too often are young girls exploited dreadfully in Hollywood.
To the woman herself; I do not know enough to comment but she certainly, not least by her parents, was exploited terribly. Pretty Baby is controversial at best ( I know of it but have not and do not wish to see it) but, in honesty, I saw Blue Lagoon about four or five years ago for the first time and thought there was an inherent sweetness and innocence to the story which also carried a strong message.
As to whether or not Brooke should have been in it at her age - though I know body doubles were used - is another matter.
A thought provoking read indeed and one many of these Hollywood producers - and parents - would do well to read.
    All the very best,
    Ben
