Frostbite

by Kakera   Dec 5, 2015

Compared to you,
I am running so slowly
in the story of our lives;
being the stronger in your eyes,
yet being left behind
to watch your ghost
run into through tunnels
towards the Light.

O Brother, I'm so close
to the afterimage
of your traced shadows
rushing past me into oblivion;

I'm so close
to the emptiness
you found in death,
and left in my heart,
that I'm running too,
towards the light.

But I'm wondering if
it's the same Light
that let me trace your shadows
with a smile and pained forgiveness,
as winter came and kissed your heart,
letting it stop beating while embraced
by frostbite.

    What brilliant use of metaphor here.

    A wonderful poem and beautifully written like all your work is.

    All the very best
