A Letter to Dr. Cortese - Terza Rima.

by Everlasting   Dec 13, 2015

Professor Cortese, with all due respect,
I bring my self to take more than one step
so that this introvert can introspect
within the steps she takes to reach your doorstep
about the project she did not turn in.
You see, I read the task's assignment step by step.
I did research. I even skimmed within
a few psychological books to see
if I could find how Dante wrote therein,
( within The Divine Comedy, that is )
about the journey that led him to God.
Except that while I read him, so carefree,
I could not help but think about the road
that I, as poet, have been walking on,
that road that leads a poet to a world
where thoughts become like rivers streaming on,
just flowing through, so seamlessly and freely,
towards the radiance of a warm sun.

And Doctor Cortese, while I walk slowly,
enjoying and admiring the pine trees
but still just pondering unhurriedly
about the research and my syntheses
I realized that your own office's doors
are miles away from where I live, and that these,
my feet, won't make it to your office floors .
Therefore, I hope that you won't mind me if
I walk my way back home to do my chores
and while I'm doing them, within a whiff,
I send to you this letter via e-mail.
I also hope my rhymes don't sound too stiff,
for I have practice them before with no avail,
yet that's not really what I want to say.
The reason why I write this e-mail
it's just that I could ask from you today
that if I were to not turn in - this project,
would you considered at least some way
to grant this lady some extra credit?
