Why do they hate us

by TheDarkCloudBehindthePoet   Dec 30, 2015

I don't know why people act the way they do towards us,
but they believe they're right,
All we want to do is live,
and not have to fight,

If it's not one thing it's another, just look at what we have to put up with,
From feeling awkward walking behind someone with a purse to feeling petrified when the police pull us over,
Is this truly Gods gift,

I'm done hearing it's his will that we be slain like cattle,
Just pray a little more and he'll fight our battle?
There's so many things that we have to fight against,
Ourselves police each other it always feels like we have a back against the fence,

Like the great Ali when he fought George Foreman,
Using the rope a dope to survive all the punishment,
But just like an ex-girlfriend who will never believe you changed,
People will forever fear us, believing we are all the same,

Maybe Thomas Jefferson was right, maybe we are the descendants of Cain,
Forever cursed with dark skin, and left with tears dripping looking like we're in the rain,

But really no one really cares,
It's funny because everyone is aware,
But just keep fighting, with every blow we take we get stronger,
Just live life and hope we all live longer.
