Overcome

by deeplydesturbed   Jul 10, 2016

Loneliness is a feeling,
Not a fact; as some may think.
Being alone all the time
Must really, really stink..

Loneliness is confusing
And makes one think
They are an outcast,
A loser, on the brink..

On the brink of being pushed out.
Of certain friendships and things.
Ignore these people
Even though it stings..

We take note
Of self deflating thoughts!
We make a plan; distract ourselves
Even if it means games of crosses and naughts!

Find other lonely people
Be lonely together
It means you are cured
Even if not forever!

We all get lonely
One or twice
Then we find new friends
with whom to share our life.

Love that it ends on a light note.

It's an excellent poem, aside from the forced ending. I loved the meaning behind it, and the fact that everything you say is true-- the cure to loneliness is simply finding someone else to be a distracted sort of lonely with.

I would suggest changing at least the last line, because it does not do the poem justice :P I would suggest "with whom to share our life.", but there are plenty of options :)

Thanks for writing this, it shall go in my favorites for when I need reminding of the frivolous nature of loneliness.

A poem full of wisdom that anyone who feels the effects of loneliness would do well to take not of.
