Where Am I?

by Tasha   Sep 9, 2016

I thought that you'd be back by now,
I've waited everyday.
I've looked for you, I've screamed out loud
But it seems you've run away.
I plant this fake smile on my face
But truth is that I miss you.
I walk around stuck in a daze,
Knowing it's an issue.
A glimpse of you as I walk past
or stop to check my makeup,
A flicker in your eyes is cast
But suddenly you'll change up.
You're not the same
I see it now but who else could you be?
Same lips, same eyes, same voice; no change
But as I look at this reflection
I know that you're not me.

Thank you. I really wanted people to take what they want away from it because it's so easy to lose yourself in many different ways. At least that's how I feel. Again thank you.

    Welcome Tasha to P&Qs,

What a lovely little piece you have written here. I must admit I'm a sucker for rhyming poetry as that's mainly what I write though as Ben says its like a dying art.
The content of this piece is rather enthralling because it makes the reader think why exactly this person feels the way they do and at first I thought depression then I re-read and wasn't so sure.

    All the best, Em

Hello Tasha and a warm welcome to the site.

There seems to be an influx of rhyming poets at P&Q recently, and I love that as I am one myself, primarily. It seems to be a dying art, but when done properly, is an absolute joy to read.

As to the content, why has this person lost themselves? Depression? A failed relationship? have they done something awful? Anyway, finding a way back to our true selves is often the hardest thing to do.

    Keep writing, this is excellent,

    Ben

Thank you Ben. I really appreciate it. As for the content yes it is the first two. I would like to think that I haven't done too awful. Yes it is hard to find myself again but writing and reading from everyone is helping me.
