Bitter

by Tasha   Jan 23, 2019

I hope you wake up lonely,
Regret caked on your tongue,
Memories coming back slowly
Of all the things you've done
With the bitter taste of yesterday's alcohol,
I hope you taste those hateful words still clinging to your lips
Realizing YOU are YOUR own pitfall
Tearing OUR life to bits.
I hope your day is filled with thoughts of "How it was..."
And "How it could've been..."
Strong enough to make you pause,
With goosebumps on your skin.
I hope you cry yourself to sleep
Like I have many nights before,
Shame invading every dream
Impossible to ignore.
I wonder if you'll understand it
The isolation you caused is real
I wonder if it's worth it
The pain you give and feel.

One powerful poem that packs a punch in its honesty and unapologetic emotions. It's so hard to process when others cause pain and isolation, yet if we have loved them before or continue to love them. Our minds become like a battlefield wondering how it got to this and truly living the impact of someone's decisions. That realization they have been the one to make us cry and want to scream.

    Seriously, an emotional, personal write.

Thank you! I was trying to end it positively and with forgiveness but I couldn't find those words yet and I needed these words more.
