An Artist's Ache

by Nobody   Jan 20, 2017

Sometimes I feel an itch
forming on my lips,
on the tips of my fingers
and at the back of my mind.

Like the way a painter's hands
twitch and ache for a brush
mine long for words
and pen to write them all down

A canvas to paint with verbs
coloring the lines with descriptions
of the hum of emotions and thoughts
that linger in my heart, on my chest

You have just described perfectly the feeling I get when I want to write - an almost unquenchable need to put pen to paper. Unfortunately, that often sees me running up and down the stairs in the middle of the night, jotting ideas down...

    Well done on this,

True artistry put to words. I really just love this. As a poet when the words begin to swirl we have to get them down onto paper or lose our minds. You did a wonderful job putting this to words-well done-
