Jaded (sonnet)

by Kasie   Feb 1, 2017

The weariness that lies within these eyes,

It beckons me to sleep, but I can't fall.

For darkened nights bring with it wilted sighs,

And life's emotions seem to build a wall.
~~
A wall that one cannot surpass the night,

Abandoned by my dreams, I'm left to fade.

Convinced that sleep might come before the light,

I try to climb the wall of barricades.
~~
The stony thoughts that I must leave behind,

To climb this wall that seems to be too steep.

I'll reach my velvet bed that I've enshrined,

And close these weary eyes and fall to sleep.

~~

The wall of life's emotions can't be high,

'Cause I have climbed the wall of desperate sighs.

Fantastic Kasie, those insomnia filled nights are the worse and always bring back memories usually bad which in turn stops the sleep from coming. Well done.
