If You Could Tell Me

by RustySoul   Jun 8, 2017

If you could tell me one more time
If ‘tis fair to fiercely love,
Beyond all thought and reason,
The one who resides in heaven above.

If you could tell if it is wise
To cling on to the past that’s dead,
To harbour passions in my sullen bosom
Or forget it all, instead.

Fruitless it is, I think, to seek
Respite from this endless strife,
I submit myself to His ways
For all I know, this is life.

Hear my plea oh Mighty Lord!
Shower your mercy, keep her blessed,
Now a stranger to this sombre world
She calmly lies in perpetual rest.

If only psalms rhymed. I believe King David would have danced to this.

      I thought you weren't religious?

Not that I disagree. Its a beautiful poem and I can feel it. The rhyming is on point. And it feels... biblical. Like you said.
      Well done rusty

I'm not. But I know His word like the back of my hand. It just doesn't speak to me. Maybe one day it will again. Who knows.

King David danced to his psalms though they did not rhyme. :-) I have a poem about King David will you take the time to read?

I was unclear in my post original post. I meant I wished psalms rhymed.
