Lost Boy

A shadow among city lights,
Always alone,
With nothing but a name,
And no place to call home.

Spending nights in the park,
I'd draw shapes in the stars,
Creating a masterpiece all my own,
Listening to speeding cars.

One night he appears,
A shadow flying high,
He flips and he twirls,
Swimming through the sky.

He lands lightly beside me,
With the sweetest smile,
Asking me softly,
If I'd like to talk awhile.

I've come for you,
He says, holding out his hand,
I'm from a place called,
Neverland.

He takes both my hands,
Promising me an escape,
Telling me I am so much more,
Than just a lonely mistake.

He tells me to believe,
In hope and trust,
Then sprinkles me quite gently,
With Pixie Dust.

The boy laughs and caws,
As we lift toward the sky,
And in a moment of pure elation,
I begin to cry.

We fly past the oceans,
Through the clouds and the moon,
He whispers in my ear,
That we'll be home soon.

I am no longer sad,
And no longer cold,
I am happy and at peace,
Never to grow old.

No longer a shadow,
Living on my own,
But a friend among a new family,
In a place I can call home.

I am now a Lost Boy,
In Neverland,
Running from Captain Hook,
With Peter Pan.

Drifting so far away,
From reality,
We smile and we laugh,
I am finally free.
