City of Angels [part 1]

by Alex Penuelas   Nov 17, 2017

The city of Angels.

A place where
Dreamers from all around
Flock to in order to
Gain some sort of inspiration.

A city of artists who
Aspire to make
Some sort of impact
In people's lives.

A city of sports fans,
Who flaunt their
Favorite team's jerseys
With such swagger,
As their tap beers
Spill over their froth
From the cheap plastic cups
That they are held in.

A city of endless streets,
Sprawling in all corners,
With shocking snapshots
Of the social stratification of its society,
As you traverse from
Compton to Beverly Hills.

A city of mass media,
With reporters swarming
Each and every corner,
Desperate to cling on to
The hottest scoop of the day.

A city of mass consumers,
With almost as many advertisements
As there are people,
Each lunging out to you,
Imploring you to try their newest products.

A city largely focused on
The automobile,
With multiple car stores
Literally clogging the streets.

A city of gridlock traffic,
As the cars during rush hour
Sluggishly progress forward,
Like blood cells in a clogged artery,
And whose smoggy air resembles that
Of entering into a smoker's home.

A city filled with skyscrapers and slums,
Vibrant coffee shops and lonely bars,
Festive parties and cold streets.

This, is my city.

And i wouldn't choose any other.

Although, I am well aware of its faults.

This is a city where
Not everything is as it seems...

All cities have faults ... and you've captured the highs, the lows and the crazy brilliantly here! :-)

Reminds me of a movie I love to watch. "City of Angels". Add to my favorite. All the very best

That is an amazing movie, for many reasons, and I think I found my own similarities to it in this.
