About True Friends

by Khai Montegrande   Feb 26, 2018

It's not quite easy to gain friends if you ask me,
But I know a secret to being close to somebody,
You have to listen and you have to feel,
You have to show them you are for real,
Never pretend to be someone you're not,
'Cause if you find true friends they'll understand,
Bad or good don't be afraid, Just be yourself and show them what you're made,

They'll either accept or ignore you,
But remember to stay real,
Just be you and be true to what you feel,
Sometimes you get rejected but just stay strong,
Don't lose hope when sometimes things go wrong,
'Cause sometimes acceptance could take long,
It's longer than writing a sad song,
It's not about who you are and what you have,

'Cause if friends are real to you,
They'll make or break all the rules just to be with you,
And listen to what you wanna say,
And feel for your hearts desire and say,
I'll always be here though I'm far away'

Very nice Karen, your words bring back memories of myself trying to be accepted by and not being real!
It was through a dear friend that reality smacked me in the face, he asked me a simple question; Ken, why do you smile when you don't want too? It was the wounds of a friend who dared to tell me the truth,
and the truth set me free!
I added your great write to my favorites.
