Walking Diamonds

by Alex Penuelas   Mar 23, 2018

People see a diamond
and they call it significant.

But most fail to realize that the
carbon in the diamonds
is the same carbon
that is found in the
graphite of the pencil I use to
write this poem for you.

It is also the same carbon
that is fundamental
to your creation.

So I don't lie
when I tell you that
you are more precious than diamonds.

I remember, back in the 80's, I think. I watched a Superman film where he compressed a lump of coal in his clenched fist. Hey presto - a diamond. That was the first time I realised that carbon is the everywhere - without it, there would be no human race.

    Thanks for this.
