The Heavens

by Alex Penuelas   Apr 16, 2018

The sun rises
Every time you are around.

The sun starts to set
When it is time for you to go.

But you always leave behind
A silver mirror in the sky,
That reflects the light
That beams from your magnificent face.

Whose light guides me
Even through the darkness of the night,
Allowing me to draw parallels
Between poems and planets,
Songs and stars,
Galaxies and your glory.

But it isn't always up there you see.
Sometimes it makes me feel
Like you forgot about me.

But then, I realize
That my eyes were
So accustomed to the
Reflections of your gaze
That it blinded me from
The fact that you, too,
Are but another star in the sky,
Filled with an endless tapestry
Of many other brilliant balls of fire,
Burning brightly with
Their supplies of hydrogen.

And yes,
There may be bigger and brighter
Stars than you.

But love, you are the one
That brings life to my world,
The one I get to call home.
