Apologies.

It was midday
When I showed up at your steps
Worried anxious, not expecting
What’s to come next.
It was midday
When you gave me a shove
Confusion shock, my body froze
Did that just happen.
It was midday
When you begged and said sorry
Sadness hope, your head down
Said it’ll never happen again.

It was just after dinner
When my phone made a sound
Scared worried, I darted to the corner
Phone flying across the room.
It was just after dinner
Punches left and right
Trembling cries, my head throbbing
Bruises all around.
It was just after dinner
When you begged and said sorry
Sadness hope, your head down.
Said it’ll never happen again.

It was early morning
When you shook me awake
Startled fearful, hands around my neck
Arms crossing knees to my chest.
It was early morning
Trying to protect myself
Screaming help, words cutting skin
Covers around my body.
It was early morning
When you begged and said sorry
Sadness hope, your head down
Said it’ll never happen again.

It was every month.
It was every week.
It was every day.
When you begged and said sorry.
Said it’ll never happen again.

Sometimes because we love the person so much we are blinded by how they are hurting us. This a great write, sad and dark but a really good write. I hope the best for you

I guess the important thing is that I’m not blinded anymore. Thank you.

A cathartic, emotional poem. Thank you for sharing. It’s difficult to critique a poem that’s come from a dark place. I only hope you’ve found solace

Thank you. I don’t mind if you critique it. And yes, writing helps a lot.
