A choice made

by Nicholas W Jones   Nov 22, 2018

Each night I see your face, I remember the tears an the fear in your eyes, I listened as you cried but there I sat in disbelief " what should we do " fear engulfing my heart as I realize how things are going to change, I'm lost in my thought overwhelmed but there it is that emotional change that I was waiting for from fear to joy I couldn't believe it, but your yelling shattered my thoughts, your fear overshadowing my joy, I couldn't understand your words but I heard them all " we can't.... " " too young.... " " my father will......" each night these shattered sentences echo in my dreams, I tried to reassure you that everything will be okay but you yell some more " I love you but...... " "I'm afraid..... We shouldn't have......" " A child.... I would die before i tell them...." God how I can see it all I pull you closer trying to easy your fears " I love you we can do this together....." you pull away crying " we can't I won't " "you don't understand..... But I love you" an there is were I awake knowing that you would be gone and how life changed how sadness over took my world with your absence Still I miss you all these years later I still love you an wonder what would our life have been, I still wonder about the child what he or she would have given to the world one day I'll die an be able to ask you why you made this choice
