Hope Floats

by Anne Moore   May 10, 2019

First I smell that horrid clone that you always put on
so thick that I could taste it in my mouth
Then I hear your voice in my ear saying hello
Then the feel of hand on my arm sends shivers down my spine
The very sight of you makes my heart float on hope
You made my heart float
As girly and giggly as I am
I still don’t understand why
My heart was set on you
You were nothing extraordinary
You weren't good looking
You weren’t all that nice
You were just some guy
I met in a school cafeteria
But you made my heart float on hope

The strangest things can ignite our hopes and passions, even if we can't always explain them!
