Nothing Better

by Anne Moore   Mar 3, 2020

I broke the promise
I made a mistake
I have
Nothing better
To say
Except I’m
Sorry

I feel sick
When I think
About what
I did
The mistake
I made
The promise
I broke

So I’m
Swallowing my
Dignity saying
I'm ashamed
Of my
Actions and
Didn’t mean
To hurt
You that
Night

I, as the reader, don't know the details of this, and it's almost reverent in a way. You sharing this apology and the acknowledgement of that mistake and broken promise, yet only you and this person sharing the truth of it and the deeper meaning.

I liked the style of only one or two words per line. It emphasized your emotions perfectly.
