Pieces

My heart's in pieces
Like shattered glass on a beach
Blending in with the ruckus
Every stroll there is deadly
As the shards pierce my skin
And the red color flows out
Drenching the parched sand
Cold and unnerving
This beach has run dry
And I can hear it wailing
It demands to be filled.
My soul's in pieces
Tremors run across
Shaking frantically
It seeks help
Yet runs from it
Longing to feel loved again.
My mind's in pieces
Such a messed up place to be
Sometimes it's like a desert
Burning through my body
Sometimes it's like a lake
In which I'm drowning
Water filling up my lungs
Hands cold as ice dragging me down
And through all the chaos
A deadly calm.
I'm in pieces
Trying not to let them hurt others
Why can't they hear me screaming?

I love the repetition of '...in pieces', it testifies to how much trouble you're in. This is a hard-hitting write, I know a lot of other people can relate to this piece. Sometimes, all it takes is just one person to hear us scream, and if not then, we must go seek help on our own.
