Good Bye

by Mementomorii   Aug 6, 2019

So how do I begin my search for you?
Beneath the clouds perchance, may peek and fail.
From where you drift I may have caught a few
the pain, the tear that's left behind your trail.
I but a man and fool to chase you blind.
More so without a pair of wings to fly.
Whilst this I tell my crippled heart and mind,
I need not wings but love and will to try.
Should my wrinkled eyes fail to find your light
against the thrashing wind and thinning air
and should I fall from this nigh futile flight
know that I have eternity to spare.
... For when you left, our mem'ries rose and stayed.
Above the shades, began a sad parade.

What a beautiful sonnet! I'm glad to see this nominated and you're obviously new to the site (welcome!) but not to poetry to be writing such an accomplished poem. :-) x
