If I Loved Her

If I loved her
I'd tuck the
loose reddish blond
strands of her
hair behind her
right ear

If I loved her
I'd learn to play piano
so she'd never
have to fear being
alone on that
torturous stage

If I loved her
I'd kiss her scars
upon her left wrist
from the time she
wanted to fade
until they faded away

If I loved her
I'd never let
her forget how
wonderful she is

But I can't
